Our Story

Welcome to the Stardeck Group, where we aim to do things a little differently. With four venues in our acclaimed stable, we have cemented ourselves as the most awarded hospitality group in not just the Pilbara but regional WA with a bounty of awards to our name.

Each of our venues has a unique vibe and the names are inspired by metro stations in some of the world’s most famous cities. Our founding venue, Blanche Bar, has a Parisian influence, while Rambla Bar & Bistro speaks to the fun of Barcelona. Fiorita Wine Bar & Restaurant conjures up the allure of Milan, and Grand Central Tavern transports punters to the hustle and bustle of New York City.

Though the venues all have their own special character, they are underpinned by the same spirit and core values. At Stardeck, we are highly invested in delivering an unparalleled experience for our customers. We do this by providing friendly and warm customer service that is second-to-none, where our patrons become an extension of our family. Connection is the aim of our game, and we foster these good times through an ever-changing array of events and activations. We are proud to bring people together – you should never feel like a stranger when you walk into a Stardeck venue.

Our purpose is to reinvigorate the Pilbara’s hospitality scene with our offering. We were the first establishment to bring tapas, quality cocktails and small-plate dining to the region, and we continue to think outside the box. At Stardeck our standards are high, and we love nothing more than delivering innovative new experiences across all our venues.

In addition to running our own events and themed nights, we have hosted Pilbara Beef and Beer Festival, North West Oktoberfest and Karratha City Eats – our community-focused markets held in the City Centre.

The collective force behind Stardeck Group is owners Bart and Lara Parsons. Starting out as business partners, they are now partners in life and crime too – Stardeck really is a family operation!

Both Bart and Lara are proud patriots of the Pilbara and active members of the community. Bart has been Chair of the West Pilbara Liquor Accord for five years, and was a councillor for the City of Karratha from 2016-2018. In addition, Bart worked with the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor to develop and implement the Banned Drinkers Register.

Giving back to the community is very close to our heart, and we donate more than $150,000 per year through cash or in-kind support. We sponsor a wide array of local sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations, too.

History

Rewind to the early noughties, when Stardeck Group founder Bart Parsons was traveling the globe. He covered more than 50 countries in the space of seven years, and was blown away by the incredible sights, regional wines and international cuisine he experienced. This planted the very first feeds for Stardeck Group, when Bart decided he wanted to bring a taste of the world to the Pilbara.

Fast-forward to December 2012, and Blanche Bar was opened in Karratha. With Blanche came a new benchmark for venues in the Pilbara, which was further set with the addition of Rambla Bar & Bistro in July 2016 and Fiorita Wine Bar & Restaurant in November 2016. Grand Central Tavern was the latest to join the Stardeck family in December 2020, making it an all-star quartet.

Over the decade since opening our first venue, we have experienced plenty of twists at turns that have kept us on our toes – and kept things exciting! We have dug in and got the job done to remain a successful operator over the years, and are proud to say we survived as the pandemic wreaked havoc on the hospitality industry.

Now, we look boldly into the future. We are committed to making our venues as good as they can be for years to come, and add more fantastic offerings to the Stardeck stable when the time is right.

Of course, our strong history is all thanks to the customers who have supported us along the way, whether they have joined us for one frothie or are regulars we know by name. You all keep the Stardeck legacy strong and we can’t wait for many more great times to come!

Grand Central Tavern was awarded a Regional Development Grant in 2019 as a training facility and we work with the local high school, TAFE and other registered training organisations to facilitate learning. Compliance is crucial and we educate our staff around the Liquor Act and Health Acts.
